What is Justice? After so many years in the trenches fighting for people to get what they want or keep what they've got, I offer another, simpler definition: Justice is a level playing field. Plain and simple, everyone's equal. Not more equal because of who they know or the resources at their disposal, or because they can get a better mouthpiece with better experts lined up on their side. Nor the system they've managed to stack in their favor. Everyone's equal. No favorites. Period. Maybe it won't always work out in our favor, but there are never guarantees that justice means we'll win. But at least we'll know we got a fair shake. And that's a whole lot more than many people think they're getting now, whether they're talking about political jusice, legal justice, social justice, or any other application of it. Try it on for size. If it fits, maybe you'd be willing to extend it to the other guy. Instead of trying to stack the deck in your favor.
